History of The Red Lion

The Red Lion is a traditional village pub situated at the heart of the 14th century village of Chalgrove.

Since before the first known written record of 1637, The Red Lion has been (and still is) owned by Chalgrove Parish Church. A few centuries ago the inn provided dining and carousing facilities for the `naughty' church wardens; this tradition of hospitality is still very much in evidence today!

We'll be adding photographs and information about the pub as we collect it, but if anyone has any stories or pictures they'd like to share with us, then please let us know!
